Shalayna is a 17 teen year old at Ashmont School. She is a member of Saddle Lake Cree Nation. She’s interested in her culture. She was involved in her high school Sr. volleyball and basketball team, in which her basketball team took home the banner for first place. She is a dance instructor for the youth in her community. She travels all summer long all around Canada to represent and participate in her cultural events such as powwows, spiritual ceremonies, feasts, etc. She has long term goals of becoming an actress after she finishes high school. Another goal of hers is boosting the confidence of little nehiyawak iskwewak (native girls) across Canada while participating in the Miss Teen Canada Globe pageant. She is interested in spreading awareness of the hardships and issues that go on in reservations. Shalayna would like to thank her two moms and dad, as well as her family as they have all been supportive during this time for her.
